Faces Places (original title: Visages Villages) is a French documentary by and about street art artist JR and filmmaker Agnès Varda, which premiered in 2017 as part of the Cannes Film Festival.
It describes the unlikely friendship of two artists of different generations and media influencing each other (similar to Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat). The two drive through the French countryside, from Provence to Normandy, and photograph people whose portraits they then immortalize on facades. It’s a touching film, a film duo for eternity!
